Zayden is Weira's husband and the father of Elyon and Phobos. During his marriage Zayden served as the royal consort of the world of Meridian . Zayden only appeared in a flashback during the episode J is for Jewel.
History
An unknown time prior to Season 1 Zayden married the Queen Regnant and Heart of Meridian Weira and they had a son Phobos. A significant but undefined amount of time later Weira gave birth to their second child a daughter destined to succeed her; Elyon. Shortly after their daughter's birth both Weira and Zaden disappeared and are presumed dead. Their manner of death or circumstances of their disappearance are unknown but it is implied that it was at Phobos's hand or at least on his orders.[1]
In J is for Jewel Elyon asks about her parents and was given the opportunity to see them through the memories of Trill who as a servant briefly helped raise Elyon on meridian. The visions showed Zayden as disinterested in and disgusted by his infant daughter. However Alborn and Miriadel disputed this version of Zayden saying he loved his daughter. It is subsequently revealed that the 'memory' was actually a false vision created by the sorceress Nerissa who created the alter ego of Trill. Nerissa created the fake memory in order to trick Elyon out of her power which she successfully did. Zayden neither appears nor is mentioned in the Series after this.[2]
Trivia
- While nothing is confirmed about Zayden's personality in the TV series, Greg Weisman has described him and Weira to have been decent people, albeit possibly over-indulgent and probably in some denial regarding their son.[2]
- In the comics Elyon's father is not named and he does not appear.
